Bad news for those expecting some unexpected surprise announcement at the conference Google I/O 2023. Amazon Japan botched the biggest reveal for that event, completely leaking the tech specs of the new Google Pixel Tablet, confirming its existence.
A few days ago we reviewed all the announcements we were expecting for this developer conference organized by the company behind the Android Mobile Operating System and the most popular web browser on the planet (for now).
There we highlighted the crossroads in which the company is, after Microsoft allied itself with the Artificial Intelligence (AI) of OpenAI and ChatGPT to turn Bing into a relevant competitor.
At the same time that Apple is about to present, in theory, its future Mixed Reality viewer that would mix elements of Virtual Reality (VR) with Augmented Reality (AR).
So Google is at a crucial crossroads, where the presentation of Android 14 and the Pixel 7a were practically a given. Giving then the surprise with the official preview that we would also meet the new Pixel Fold.
So the whole field of speculation focused on the probable presentation of a tablet by the company. It was supposed to be the big surprise product to be confirmed at the conference on May 10. But Amazon botched it.

Where the online store ended up updating its catalog of in-stock products, accidentally publishing the full display page of the new Google Pixel Tablet.

The site was soon removed from Amazon Japan’s page, but enough trace evidence remained to capture general details about its components.
Where the Google Pixel Tablet will include the Tensor G2 chip, 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. As well as an LCD screen of 2560 x 1600 pixels, with a brightness of 500 nits.
To this are added two 8 MP cameras, charging via USB-C connector, battery with 12 hours of video playback autonomy and Wi-Fi 6. With a price that would be around USD $590 about.
So for cost and hardware it could almost be considered a competitor to Apple’s iPad Air.
