Since this Wednesday, May 3, 2023, Star-Lord and his band of misfits have given us an appointment in cinemas for a third and final lap. In order to promote the feature film, part of the team of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was present in Paris a few days ago at a press conference. The opportunity to show that, decidedly, it is a question of friendship in front of but also behind the cameras.
After six years of waiting, it’s time to say goodbye to our favorite heroes. After the disappointment ofAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The challenge is big. To our delight, James Gunn gives us one of the best MCU movies in a long time with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
During the press conference, the director echoed the criticism that the superhero films of the moment receive. For some, like Martin Scorsese, it’s not real cinema. Others complain, finding them boring and unoriginal.
James Gunn did not contradict. “I think there are a lot of superhero movies that get boring, so I’ll never argue about that” he begins. But of course, the filmmaker goes further in his thinking. In his eyes, all film genres can be the source of good films. “To say that a type of film, because of its themes or its characters, is not cinema is ridiculous” he explains. And that’s what frustrates him. Good news: with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3James Gunn shows us that a superhero film can be an excellent film.

The shadow of the Avengers…
If Star-Lord and his friends were entitled to two dedicated films, many things have changed between the second part and the one currently in dark rooms. Yes, in the meantime, there has been Avengers : Infinity War et Avengers : Endgame. The director had to take these two films into account to write the ultimate adventures of our marginal heroes.
That said, Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis, says he made sure the characters’ stories made sense. During the Paris press conference of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3a question is on everyone’s lips: it’s a conclusion, yes, but will we see the heroes on screen again?
When a journalist asked him the question directly concerning the future of Star-Lord, Chris Pratt was relatively evasive so as not to spoil the surprise. “I don’t know right now. But I am open to doing more” did he declare. Which fits with what one of the post-generic scenes suggests… We just have to wait for the sequel!
