“WAs I have made clear to the heads of companies at the forefront of American AI innovation, the private sector has an ethical, moral and legal duty to ensure the safety of its products,” he said in a statement.

The vice president, who met today at the White House with the heads of Google, Microsoft, OpenAi and Anthropic, said AI has “the potential to improve people’s lives and address some of the biggest challenges” in society.

The vice president said she supports “potential new regulations” and “new legislation”.
