President Gustavo Petro assured this Monday that he knows the “source” of the information on which Noticias Caracol based its complaint of the alleged contribution of an alleged drug trafficker to his campaign in the department of Casanare and described his attitude as “seditious.”
“Even those involved deny @caracoltv that he falls for the lie of his source that, respecting his identity that I know, he is in a seditious attitude,” said the president in the most recent of his messages on X, the old Twitter.

Following a report by Noticias Caracol, which linked the campaign of @petrogustavo with characters linked to illegal activities in the eastern part of the country, the president responded and requested legal action from his party against the media outlet.

The president accused Noticias Caracol of slander and of trying to hide with the information against him what happened with the Ruta del Sol II scandal and the sanctions by United States authorities on Grupo Aval.
“They have tried to insinuate with these people that here other media outlets are interviewing that financed our campaign when I publicly and on time ordered that regional funds not have to be collected and everything was centralized in the national management,” the Head of State defended himself.

Noticias Caracol ratified this Monday the “complaints made in the report of the Investigative Unit.”
The television news reported that the wife of the alleged Casanare drug trafficker, Juan Carlos López “Sobrino”, contributed money to Petro’s campaign and organized a closing event before the first round elections.
“We did not give a single peso for the campaign,” Sandra Navarro, López’s wife, assured Blu Radio today and maintained that both she and her sentimental partner were only citizens who supported the candidate.
