In the end, Finland’s handball ladies did not have to play any qualifiers. Instead, you jump directly into the main qualification for European Championship 2024 together with 30 other teams.
On Thursday, the draw was held – from there Finland would be drawn against three tough opponents as they were in the lowest ranked, fourth, draw basket.
The draw in Zurich resulted in a place in Group 3 for Finland, along with the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Portugal.
Confederation captain Tomas Westerlund will continue to lead the team through the qualifiers.
– We will be underdogs but we have a chance. A victory can already go a long way, said Westerlund before the draw.
