Before the summer of last year, Good Evening Norway could announce that former Farmen participant Andreas Nørstrud (38) and his wife Maren Andrea (27) were expecting their sixth child together.

Andreas Nørstrud married Maren Andrea, eleven years younger, in 2013, and the following year the couple had their first child together. Now one child has become six, and Nørstrud also has a son from a previous relationship.

The latest addition to the family was born by caesarean section in October last year.

– Life with six children is quite hectic, as I have also started producing butter and cheese for my own use. I often feel that I would like to be split in two, in order to cover everything I want in one day, says Maren Andrea to God kveld Norge.

Looking for “maid”

At Maren Andreas open facebook profile, an advertisement has now been shared in which a “maid” is being sought.

The advertisement has been published several times on her profile, with a call for others to share it.

– A maid with us will assist me with my tasks, everything from housework, looking after children, to barns and animal husbandry, she says.

Maid was the most common female occupation at the end of the 19th century. The term is often associated with girls from the countryside who went to the city to work for wealthy families. They were poorly paid and hardly rested.

In the book “Guidebook for Maids and Young Housewives” which was published in 1912, it was said, among other things, as follows:

“Every educated home and every sensible housewife will know to appreciate a neat and well-behaved maid, who speaks an educated language, is neat in her clothes, clean in her person and in her work”.

The extract is taken from an article on Vi.no, which deals with a look back at the maids’ strenuous everyday life.

When asked by Nørstrud about whether they have steeled themselves that there may be criticism as a result of sharing this advertisement in 2023, Maren Andrea Nørsrtud points to the Bible.

– “Maid” as a term may be “outdated”, but no more than one or two generations ago this was quite common practice in this country. Servants were quite common around the farms. There they contributed with food and shelter. Servants are also widely described in the Bible, and are completely normal practice, she says.

Controversial

Andreas Nørstrud is one of the most talked about Farmen profiles of all time, as a result of his conservative views on women and homosexuality.

Early on he stated, among other things, that the women on the farm should dress more “decently”, and later he also stated that “It is the woman’s task to look after the children”.

The 37-year-old participated in the TV 2 program in 2012. The following year, he married the then 18-year-old Maren Hansen.

Nørstrud’s statements about upbringing have also received a lot of attention in the past. He believed, among other things, that discipline is important in upbringing, as long as it does not have a lasting effect on the children, psychologically or mentally.

The farm comeback

In 2018, he made his comeback in the Farmen universe, when he participated in Torpet.

On that occasion, he stated that he was then the same as the last time he was on the TV screen.

– Since 2012, I have changed very little. So I have the same positions I had then, but I believe that I am even stronger in the spirit and in my Christian life, said Nørstrud to TV 2.

The reason why he returned to Farmen and Torpet was to pass on just that: His faith.

– I see an opportunity to be able to talk about what I am interested in. Communicate the word of God. Communicate the truth. Because the truth sets people free, and that’s what I want to see: People who are freed from lies, deception and death, explains Nørstrud.
