Chihuahua.- This Friday Manuel Alfonso Marín Salazar was appointed as the new head of the National Institute of Migration (INM) in Chihuahua.

The appointment was made while eight officials, including Commissioner Francisco Garduño Yáñez himself, appeared before a federal control judge for the incident that occurred at the Juárez provisional station, where 40 people died and 27 more were injured.

Through a press release, the INM reported that it was the responsibility of the Director General of the Institute’s Representation Offices, Héctor Martínez Castuera, to grant the public servant possession of the facilities.

Marín Salazar was head of the INM Office in Baja California, federal sub-delegate and local delegate, it was announced.

“On behalf of the commissioner of the National Institute of Migration (INM), Francisco Garduño Yáñez, the general director of Coordination of Representation Offices, Héctor Martínez Castuera, appointed Manuel Alfonso Marín Salazar as head of the Institute’s Representation Office in the state of Chihuahua”, quotes the bulletin.

“By taking the legal protest, Martínez Castuera urged Marín Salazar to maintain attention and service vocation, as well as a humanist vision in favor of foreigners who enter, transit and leave national territory,” the official statement added.

Marín Salazar endorsed his commitment to the actions and performance of the federal Migration agents in Chihuahua attached to the respect and safeguarding of the law, as well as the rights of migrants in the context of mobility.

According to the document, Manuel Alfonso Marín Salazar has held various responsibilities at the INM in the last 10 years.

He was head of the INM Representation Office in Baja California (July 2019-May 2023), INM federal sub-delegate (December 2016-March 2019), as well as INM local delegate in that entity (September 2013-December 2016), it was informed.
