The date of 18 avril 2023 marked the start of the heritage month in algeria. This event is summarized in a series of activities in several museums and cultural sites of the country and this year, the event focuses on the African depth of the Algerian cultural heritage.

The national museum of Cherchel highlights Mauretania Cesarean, while the Cirta National Museum of Constantine organizes open days and workshops for children. The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions at the Palais du Bey mainly exhibits paintings and organizes conferences on intangible cultural heritage.
The interpretation center of the traditional Algerian costume of Tlemcen presents traditional African costume and jewelry, as well as workshops dedicated to traditional games and calligraphy.

At the level of the capital, the national museum of antiquities focuses on the archaeological site of M’lakou and the role of jewelry in rock art, while the space of the Kheireddine vault organizes visits as well as screenings of documentaries on underwater heritage and emphasizes the preservation of heritage.
Guided tours and workshops in the archaeological sites and museums it manages in different regions of the country, such as the site of Tipasa, the mausoleum of King Massinissa in Constantinethe Fort of Santa Cruze in Oranthe Timgad site at Get better and the Children’s Museum in Alger.
Traditional Algerian outfits soon to be listed on UNESCO
Algeria has officially submitted a request to theUNESCO pour the recognition and protection of two of these traditional female outfits from the east of the country.

The Ministry of Art announced the news on social networks and specified that the file submitted was entitled “Female ceremonial costume from Eastern Algeria: knowledge and know-how related to sewing and the making of ornaments: Mlahfa and Gandoura” .
The preparation of the file involved the participation many actors in the artistic field, traditional and historical research. The approach aims to preserve and protect this important part of the national heritage.
