"He's a monster": Virginia pediatrician accused of groping two patients

Two teenagers accused a Virginia pediatrician of groping them, and the mother of one of the girls said he showed up at her house uninvited.

Dr. Martin Forman has been in practice for decades, most recently at Reston Pediatrics, according to public records.

A Loudoun County mother said the doctor behaved inappropriately when she took her 14-year-old daughter to Reston Pediatrics for a headache.

“He kept touching her knee and looking directly at her breasts,” said the mother, who asked to remain anonymous.

The woman said Forman complimented her daughter’s abs and suggested she go see a play involving pedophilia.

“When he mentioned pedophilia, she turned red, my son turned red, I turned red and she started crying because she was upset,” the mother said.

UNEXPECTED VISIT

The family decided not to see Forman again, but the next morning there was a knock on the front door. “Suddenly, I heard a man’s voice and I knew right away that he was Dr. Forman,” the mother said.

“He says, ‘Well, I need to see my patient,'” she said.

She said Forman hit the family dog, groped her daughter, asked for her number and invited her to come home with him.

“I’m looking for knives in the kitchen, thinking, ‘Should I go out the back door and go get help?'” the mother said.

“I didn’t feel safe for my life or the life of my family,” she reported.

Finally the doctor received a phone call and left, he said.

His daughter’s medical records show a note from Forman, which reads, “I made a house call this morning.”

The family reported it to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, but a spokesman said there was “insufficient evidence to file criminal charges.”

“It’s a monster,” said the mother. “I wanted to do everything I could to make sure he couldn’t do this to anyone else.”

ATTEMPTS TO REPORT AND LAWSUIT

The family said they also tried to report Forman to the Virginia Board of Medicine, but were told he would not face any discipline.

The family said they then received a letter from Reston Pediatrics’ attorney, saying Forman had done nothing wrong and that the family was no longer welcome at Reston Pediatrics due to their lack of confidence in the practice.

The family filed a civil lawsuit against Forman. During the trial, the pediatrician denied any wrongdoing, arguing that he acted with consent and was within the standard of patient care. But a jury found him liable for the assault, ordering him and the medical center to pay more than $1 million in damages.

Until a few months ago, it appeared that Forman was still allowed to practice medicine, according to a second lawsuit he is now facing. In February, a second teen accused him of groping her while she was alone with him in the exam room, randpeitherryouor for the first time the Loudoun Times.

“Hearing that this is still happening now, it’s shocking to me on so many different levels,” said attorney Jim Magner, who represents both families.

The lawyer did not say if Forman still works at the medical center, but his bio is no longer available on his website. Forman’s bio said he was chairman of Reston Hospital’s ethics committee, but a hospital spokesman said he has not held a leadership position there in many years.

His bio also said he is an instructor at the University of Virginia, but the university said it has no record of that.
