In the fourth Vorarlberg derby of the Austrian ice hockey league, SC SAMINA Hohenems celebrated an unchallenged 11:0 victory in front of a record crowd of 1,541 ice hockey fans in the Herrenried Stadium.

Hohenems. After the previous three Ländle derbies in the Austrian ice hockey league, more than 1,500 ice hockey fans in the Herrenried Stadium were again looking forward to an exciting duel between Hohenems and Feldkirch. But this time the HSC showed no mercy and clearly showed who is the master of the ice.

HSC set the tone from the start

The Emser set the tone right from the start and started the game powerfully. After the hosts had taken the lead through Martin Grabher Meier in the fourth minute, the guests from Montfortstadt also had chances, but in the end they were too harmless and easy prey for Ems keeper Matthias Fritz. On the other side, the Steinbocks were ice cold and in the eleventh minute, Julian Grafschafter converted a previously blocked Auer shot to make it 2-0 at the break.

Historic minute in the Herrenriedstadion

In the second third, the people from Ems increased the pace and Thomas Auer made the preliminary decision with a double strike within just under two minutes. Lukas Fritz increased the score to 5:0 for HSC exactly at halftime and created a relaxed atmosphere in the stands. In the final third, the Steinbocks continued to show an enormous thirst for goals and Martin Grabher Meier made it 6-0 with his second goal. A historic minute followed in the Hohenems Herrenried Stadium: Johannes Hehle made it 7:0 at 47:13, after 47:32 Thomas Auer made it 8:0 with his third direct goal and after exactly 47:52 Fabian Mandlburger increased it to 9:0. But despite these three goals within a minute, Hohenems still didn’t have enough and captain Pascal Kainz scored in double digits in the 51st minute. Johannes Hehle set the final point of the evening in the 52nd minute with the 11:0 final score.

Correct answer on the ice

“With this success we gave the right answer on the ice after the last game in Feldkirch”, HSC coach Bernd Schmidle was also happy about the derby success. Hohenems took over the lead in the Austrian ice hockey league again and was ready for the final phase of the season. The next home game is already waiting for next Tuesday – the Wattens Penguins are guests in the Herrenriedstadion. MIMA
