Sonora, Mexico.- The Citizen Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice AC and opposition parties disdained the capture of Ovidio Guzmán this Thursday in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

For the national leader of the PAN, Marko Cortés, it is evident that the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán is a pact between the federal government and organized crime.

“It is evident that the federal government has a pact and complicity with organized crime, even in July of last year it called for the inclusion of drug traffickers in a pact for peace, because they are human beings and the authorities should also take care of their integrity and well-being in confrontations”, he mentioned.

Cortés affirmed that it is suspicious that the Government acts only to please the President of the United States, in the framework of his visit to Mexico, and that there are orders for the arrest of the other children of Guzmán Loera.

In the same sense, the leader of the PRD, Jesús Zambrano, spoke ironically about the arrest.

“Hopefully Joe Biden comes to Mexico more often so that they arrest more drug lords. What happened today in Sinaloa underscores the failure of ‘hugs, not bullets’, even if they don’t want to admit it,” he said.

For its part, the Citizen Council regretted that the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán, son of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, was after pressure from the United States.

“It is unfortunate that these decisions are only taken under pressure from US authorities and that only in this way is the complicity with organized crime imposed under the false premise of hugs, not bullets broken,” he said in a statement.

“They had to welcome Joe Biden on the red carpet with Ovid’s head with something,” said the president of that association, lawyer José Antonio Ortega.

The Citizen Council, however, recognized the Armed Forces.

“Once again they have demonstrated their effectiveness in defending Mexicans and really looking after the interests of the Homeland,” he said.
