Whether it’s the constant stream of spam messages, or that persistent ex who won’t take “no” for an answer, knowing how to block messages is something you need to know how to do. Regardless of whether you use an iPhone or Android, the process is very simple and fast.

Your smartphone allows you to block text messages from any number on your device in a few simple steps. You can block contacts already stored in your phone or unknown numbers not stored in your device.

When blocked, the owner of that phone number will not be able to send you text messages. And the best: he won’t know he was blocked. Below, see how to block text messages on your smartphone.

Blocking texts on iOS is easy. On iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro or older iPhone, the easiest way to block a message is from the Messages app:

  1. Open the Messages app on your smartphone;
  2. Then choose the message from the contact you want to block;
  3. Once done, select the Name Or the profile picture at the top of the message;
  4. Afterwards, select Information;
  5. Finally, tap block this contact.

Blocked List

Another way to block texts from known contacts is to add them to your Blocked List. Regardless of whether you use this, or the above method, it is important to mention that not only messages will be blocked, but also phone calls and FaceTime calls. That way you don’t need to access the apps Telephone and FaceTime to block the same person:

  1. open the app Settings;
  2. Then select Messages;
  3. Afterwards, tap blocked contacts;
  4. Once this is done, select Add new;
  5. Choose the contact you want to block. Contacts can only be added one at a time. To remove a contact, select To edit in the upper right corner and choose the minus sign next to the name of the person you want to remove.

Blocking unknown numbers

Unfortunately, you cannot completely block unknown and private numbers in the same way that you can block known contacts. You can, however, filter them and separate them from the people you know.

This will create a new tab unknown senders in your Messages app, and you won’t get notifications from them. It may not be ideal, but it’s better than nothing, right?

  1. open the app Settings;
  2. Then select Messages;
  3. then alternate Filter unknown senders.
