After HTC unofficially walked away from creating VR headsets for consumers, they have now returned with a new VR headset, the Vive XR Elite, which will compete with the Meta Quest Pro. Despite being over double the price compared to the Meta Quest Pro’s headset, the technical specifications seem to be good enough to be worth the money.

The screens are in 4K for the best optimal experience

Vive XR Elite will be equipped with 4K screen with 90Hz refresh rate with 110 degree field of view (FOV), the new headset has four cameras with wide field of view, which enables spatial tracking, without the need for external sensors. The device comes with two wireless hand controllers that support hand tracking. For an enhanced experience, there is also a full-color RBG camera that allows MR pass-through that allows you to blend reality and the virtual game world for an optimized experience.

The headset weighs 625 grams (13 percent lighter than its competitor) including the battery that sits on the back of it. HTC announces that it has chosen the location with care to help the balance with the device on the head, the battery should last about two hours of use and has a 30 watt fast charge through USB-C when it needs to be charged again. The device also has a built-in cable that you can pull out if you want to connect it to a power bank or airplane seat in case you end up in a situation where it is needed.

HTC says that the Vive XR Elite will have large speakers that support directional sound, in addition to all that, they want to make it easier for those who have some form of visual impairment so they can also take part in the experience in the best way. The headset allows you to adjust the lens according to the strength you have on your glasses so you can also take off the glasses to experience VR. The idea is to be able to remove the battery and wear the headset instead of your glasses, the idea is that they will release accessories later in the year to automatically adjust the device to your eyes and face shape.

Vive XR Elite will be released for 1100 dollars and before the release of Vive XR Elite HTC announces that approximately 100 games will be released in close connection with the headset including Demeo, Body Combat, Unplugged, Finger gun and Yuki and more.

Do you play a lot of VR? What do you think, will it be worth the price to buy this beast?
