A man was hit by a tram in Johannisthal and died. The tram drove between the Sterndamm/Königsheideweg and Pietschker Straße stops on Friday night, the police said.
The driver therefore noticed a man lying on the rail track between the tracks. He made an emergency stop, but the train still caught the unknown man. He died on the spot.
The tram driver suffered shock and was taken to a hospital. The passengers were not injured. Investigations into the cause of death and the background are ongoing. The scene of the accident was closed for around two hours. (dpa)
