Inoxtag says he didn’t tell his parents about his success on YouTube

One of the French stars of YouTube shares anecdotes about his very beginnings in the universe of YouTube, and his meeting with Michou.

If French viewers know Michou above all after his participation, crowned with success, in Dance with the stars, the 19-year-old boy has long evolved with one of his best friends: Inoxtag. Real name Inès Benazzouz, he has 5.8 million subscribers on YouTube with videos mostly viewed more than 4 million times. A star of the platform who today shares anecdotes about his debut as a videographer.

“For three years it didn’t work at all“, confides Inoxtag

From a small bedroom equipped with a simple laptop in 2017 to a studio set up in the premises of the Webedia group in 2020, Inoxtag has experienced a meteoric rise over the years. Becoming a successful videographer, however, was not what he was originally looking for: “I watched YouTube a lot, I was a fan of Squeezie, Cyprien… So as soon as I started playing Minecraft, I published my games on YouTube.“But it took a long time for him to start breaking into the internet, as he confides to the Parisian : “For three years it didn’t work at all, but it was my passion.” Especially since at the time, he claimed that his first 30 subscribers “It was my 6th grade class.” Baptized Inès, which is generally gendered in the feminine, the boy did not suffer any mockery: “I called him Inès, which is unusual for a boy, but he never had a problem with being teased.,” says his mother, who claims her “cnatural harmony.“

The day he got a fat check from YouTube

And his parents, precisely, were not aware of the success of Inoxtag before it exceeded 10,000 subscribers and he received a check for a large amount from YouTube: “I won 1200 euros that day, so I had to tell them. They didn’t believe me, they thought it was play money, on my games.” Once in the meanders of YouTube’s algorithm, Inoxtag is enjoying growing success: “We were in a high school that was also a college. There were riots in the halls when he arrived. He was really a star, but I didn’t realize it at the time.” Since then, the young man has taken off and continues to carry out projects, this time in the company of other stars of the platform or Twitch.
