He wrote one of the anthems of the 90s, “Insomnia”. Now Maxi Jazz, frontman of the British band Faithless, died on the night of December 23rd to December 24th – while he was sleeping.

His band said on Twitter: “It breaks our hearts to announce that Maxi Jazz passed away peacefully in his sleep last night. He was a man who changed our lives in many ways. He gave our music the right meaning and a message. He was a lovely person with time for everyone and a wisdom that was both profound and accessible.”

Maxwell Alexander Fraser, real name Maxi Jazz, was only 65 years old. The cause of death is officially unknown. But already in his last Instagram posts he looked battered.

The band Faithless was formed in 1995 and announced their dissolution in 2015. In 2015 there was a comeback tour. The last album was released in 2020. Maxi Jazz no longer participated in this one, but did not stop making music either.
