Tutorial iPhone: How to Delete Duplicate Photos Quickly and Save Storage Space on iOS 16
Are you tired of your photo gallery being unreadable because you take pictures of the same thing many times? On iPhone, there is a method to get rid of all duplicate photos, or just specific ones.
Too many duplicates: it’s ugly and takes up space
Being able to take such beautiful photos with such a small object like a smartphone remains a chance that we must appreciate. Gone are the days when when you took a failed photo, there was no way to go back. Nowadays, all you have to do is go to your photo gallery to delete what you don’t like.
But on the other hand, we lose the habit of taking our time before capturing a moment, and you can end up with tons of useless photos. The result is a library that has neither head nor tail, and for the little that you are a little manic, you can spend many hours selecting each duplicate of each photo to finally breathe a little.
And on top of it, all these photos take up space in your iPhone. With 4K resolution and all that artificial intelligence, every file can weigh a lot. Luckily, on iOS 16, iPhone lets you delete all those duplicates with just a few clicks.
You have taken photos, you have many duplicates, and you want to get rid of them. It’s simple, youout happens in your iPhone’s Photos app, not to be confused with the Camera app, which is only for taking pictures.
- Once you are in the Photos App, you should see a menu at the very bottom of the screen with four options. It is the third that must be selected: Albums
- Here you have access to all the albums and then several categories. Scroll to the bottom of the page to reach the Others section
- Choose the album named Duplicates. Here are displayed all your duplicates. You can see how old they are and how many there are for each photo.
- Then the choice is yours. You can either delete all the duplicates, or select the ones you want to remove, and leave the others untouched.
- To do this, press the Select button at the top right of your screen. Either select each group of duplicate images one by one, or choose Select All at the top left of the screen.
- Last choice: you can delete all selected items by pressing the trash can, the original photo will also be deleted. Otherwise tap Merge to keep a copy.
