After three generations of recycling the design of older models, Apple would finally release the next iPhone SE model with Face ID and a thin-bezel display with a design similar to the iPhone XR. But a recent survey by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reinforces the possibility that the brand should cancel or at least postpone the iPhone SE 4.

With a launch scheduled for early next year, Kuo points out that the high cost of manufacturing the new device and the low sales of cheaper models – such as iPhone SE 2022, iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 14 Plus – are aggravating enough for Apple not to introduce the iPhone SE in 2024.
Even though it is based on the look of the iPhone XR released by Apple just over four years ago, its production value is superior due to the use of more advanced components, such as Face ID and the edge-to-edge LCD screen.

Also according to Kuo, “reducing unnecessary new product development expenses will help the company navigate the challenges of the global economic downturn in 2023.”
The idea comes from a similar logic to Apple’s decision to cancel the production of the M2 Extreme chip to guarantee units of other processors like the Apple M2, the recently announced M2 Pro and M2 Max, and the future M2 Ultra that will equip the Mac Pro this year.
Although Apple is studying the possibility of canceling or postponing the arrival of the iPhone SE 4, nothing is defined. More details confirming or contradicting the rumor of the reliable Ming-Chi Kuo should emerge soon.
