The Stargate franchise is poised for a return, by all appearances.
After the takeover of MGM by Amazon, Stargate is probably one of the franchises in the MGM catalog that is being considered for a reboot.
One franchise among many
How deadline reported, Stargate is one of many franchises where such considerations exist. Others are Robocop, Legally Blonde or Pink Panther.
There are different ideas depending on the brand. With some there is a tendency towards series, with others towards film – but with some also both.
As for Stargate, Deadline says Amazon is leaning towards both, with talk of a movie likely being produced first.
With Robocop, for example, both are also being considered, but here a series could go into production first.
