In the last few hours, the result of an independent investigation conducted by the United Kingdom body has caused discussion, the outcome of which highlights some negative implications that the deal could have for all gamers in the country. The main concern that emerges from the survey is related to the cloud gamingas it is believed that the union of the two companies could lead Microsoft to have not only one solid infrastructure for this type of service (referring to Azure and Xbox Cloud Gaming), but also a particularly rich catalog of globally successful products such as Call of Duty. Also according to the survey, Microsoft would now have control of a large share of the market in the cloud sector, given that we are talking about the 60-70%: this means that the possible impact of the acquisition could lead to a sharp increase in the percentage, disfavoring competitors such as Amazon Luna and Nvidia GeForce Now.
Obviously the fears also concern the hardware market and not just the cloud, given that a catalog of games like the Activision one could in the future become exclusive to Xbox consoles and have a significant weight in the choice between the purchase of a Sony or Microsoft platform by users. The CMA also expressed fears about a possible increase in the cost of gameswhich could have a negative effect on the market and put gamers at a disadvantage.
