As you know, the winds of change are blowing at DC Studios, and James Gunn and Peter Safran have a number of projects lined up. One of these is Swamp Thing, a superhero we were introduced to in 1971 and who just a few years ago had a TV series, which was canceled shortly after its first season premiered.

But, as I said, most things will get a reboot and so will the swamp creature. Deadline reports that director James Mangold is very keen to direct, and is in talks with DC about it.

The project is still in its infancy, without a script yet, so much can of course change. But after sharing a Tweet, it at least appears that the director behind the upcoming Indiana Jones movie is somehow connected to the project.

James Gunn has made the following statement regarding the film:
“And then, the final film that we want to mention is Swamp Thing. Because we want to point out that these stories, although they’re interconnected, they’re not all totally the same. So each set of filmmakers brings their own aesthetic to these films. And the fun is seeing how these totally different works will mash-up in the future. So it investigates the dark origins of swamp thing So, totally very different than Superman or Batman or Robin etc.”

James Mangold will be busy in the coming time, partly of course with everything that follows around the premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial and Destiny but also because he will be directing a biography of Bob Dylan called A Complete Unknown with Timothée Chalamet in the lead role.

So it remains to be seen if Swamp Thing will be the film he jumps on after that.

Hopefully we can get a Swedish Mora Träsk with a furious Mikael Persbrandt in the lead role
