The American tycoon Jeff Bezosthe third richest person in the world, donated 118 million dollars to groups that help homeless families, the businessman announced this Tuesday.

This year’s donations are the sixth round of grants from the Bezos Day One Families Fundwhich will provide funds to 38 nonprofit organizations in 23 states in the United States, including states where Bezos has properties, such as New York, Hawaii, Washington DC, California, Washington and Florida, where he moved a few weeks ago.

“It is a privilege to support these organizations in their inspiring mission of helping families regain stability,” wrote the president of Amazon, in a post on Instagram with a video where his fiancée Lauren Sanchez exalts the efforts of the fund.

A note from the magazine Forbes noted that the 2023 grants “range from a $150,000 donation to Family Promise of Cheyenne, Wyoming, to approximately a dozen $5,000,000 donations to organizations such as the American Indian Community Development Corporation in Minneapolis and BronxWorks in New York.”

According to the magazine’s calculations, the latest donations increase Bezos’ total grants to nonprofit groups to $3 billion, “just under 2% of his current net worth of $166 billion.”

The week before, Bezos donated 1.67 million Amazon shares worth $560 million to “nonprofit organizations,” according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, revealed Forbes.
