Judge orders dismissal of Elizabeth Torres as congressional delegate

Judge Anthony Cuevas of the Court of First Instance of San Juan, found on Monday the motion to dismiss Elizabeth Torres as a congressional delegate.

As indicated by Cuevas in his sentence, Torres failed to comply with article 12 of Law 167, after his third management report did not establish the work he carried out.

For his part, Torres went to social networks and reacted to the determination of the superior judge, at the same time that he denounced that there are “corrupt, thugs and depraved” in the government.

“It is not a final and firm sentence… there will be a reconsideration… If necessary, go to the appeal”indicated.

“I do not care”he said too.

In addition, he alleged that Judge Anthony Cuevas made the determination because he wants to be appointed again. “Cut off the girl’s head, because if not, you will not be named”alleges that they would have told Cuevas.

“It feels like a relief. Now I can dedicate my time to my future”he added.

“Who lost was the PNP, who lost was democracy… and who lost and is losing is the Department of Justice and also the judicial branch”ended.

Judgment SJ2022CV02578 by Erick A. Velazquez Sosa

The Department of Justice had requested the removal of Torres in April 2022 for alleged failure to comply with the duties and functions of the position for which she was elected.

The dispute in court began after Torres described his position as an “embeleco” and asked Governor Pedro Pierluisi to dissolve the group, understanding that “this living delegation is an act of treason against the people.” Despite his criticism, Torres constantly insisted that he would not resign.

“I was elected by the people, and there is a task to do,” she said.
