Princess Kate is a real eye-catcher on the Easter trip. Because she painted her fingernails red – a strong contrast to her blue ensemble.

Windsor – The first Easter that the Windsors had to celebrate without Queen Elizabeth II (96, † 2022) testifies to their absence in an unusual way. She, who used soft color for big gestures all her life and made Essie’s nail polish color “Ballet Slippers” famous as her favorite polish, would probably have postponed the service to “repaint” the Princess of Wales with her bright red nails. However, it is even more likely that Kate Middleton (41) would not have dared to step in front of the church door with the heretical color variation during the Queen’s lifetime.

Expert considers red nails to be unthinkable under Queen Elizabeth II

Father-in-law King Charles (74), however, has a different view of such small things and so the revolution on the nails of his wife Prince Williams (40) went unnoticed by him or at least ignored. Not so from the Royal fans worldwide. The hand holding Emmy London’s cobalt blue clutch (just under 400 euros) showed bold red nails. Catherine Walker’s sapphire coat dress couldn’t distract from that either.

It was an unwritten law in the late Queen’s reign to refrain from bright colors, with skin-colored nail polish colors being preferred. William Hanson, an expert on royal etiquette, told the newspaper The Sunthat “hot red and bright pink are not correct, especially on official occasions and certainly not during the mourning period”, which is far from over with the mourning year. “Allowed colors include translucent or soft pink”.

Meghan ignored the Queen’s non-verbal command in 2018

A few months after marrying into the royal family, Meghan Markle shook unspoken style guidelines and sported black nail polish in a surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards in December 2018. The Duchess of Sussex, 41, was pregnant with Archie, 3, at the time and was raising took the stage to present her wedding dress designer Clare Waight Keller (52) with the British Womenswear Designer Award of the Year. Meghan’s black nails matched her one-shoulder dress in the same shade.

Kate’s mark of modernity has been received differently

One Twitter user commented: “Royals in blue at the Easter service in Windsor today. And more color than usual on Kate’s nails.” Another added, “See what I’m seeing? Look at the princess’s fingernails. . . Surprising.” A third wrote: “I love Catherine’s dark nail polish.” Kate has been spotted before with painted toenails in open-toe shoes, but colored fingernails are rare among members of the royal family.

Apparently, Prince William also thinks the time has come for more color choices on royal nails. On Easter Sunday he went with other members of the royal family together with his family, especially Prince George (9), to the service in St. George’s Chapel, where the Queen was laid to rest. The holiday outing was also a real premiere for the youngest offspring of the Royals. For the first time he attended the traditional Easter church service side by side with his siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte (7). He should also be the acid test for the coronation of Charles III. passed on May 6th. Sources used: people.com, Twitter, thesun.co.uk
