Ukraine may have launched a hypersonic missile for the first time. This is considered very difficult.
The Ukrainian military apparently succeeded for the first time on Friday night in shooting down a hypersonic missile approaching Kiev. This was first reported by military expert Gustav Gressel on Twitter, citing the Ukrainian medium “Defense Express”. Ukrainian sources confirmed the statement after sighting the debris found and identified it as part of a Kinzhal missile.
According to NATO, the missiles can hardly or only with great difficulty be intercepted with anti-aircraft or anti-missile systems. According to Gressel, the shot down was achieved with a Patriot anti-aircraft system.
