French striker Kylian Mbappé spoke to the press this Wednesday after Paris Saint Germain’s close victory against Racing Strasbourg 2-1, corresponding to date 16 of Ligue 1, and took advantage of the occasion to refer to the final for the first time of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where Argentina prevailed in the penalty shootout against France.
“I spoke with Messi after the game, I congratulated him. It was important to him, to me too, but I lost and you have to show maturity to congratulate“, Mbappé said about the talk he had with his teammate once the definition of the contest was over.
When asked about the celebrations of the Argentine National Team, in which his name was mentioned on more than one occasion, the striker clarified: “The festivities? It’s not my problem. I don’t waste energy on such trivial things.”
On the other hand, Mbappé mentioned that he expects the return of Messi to the Parisian cast: “We are going to wait for Leo to return to start winning games and scoring goals again”.
Regarding his return to the club with just a few days off after the World Cup final, he stated: “I don’t think it will ever be digested. Now, as I told the coach and the teammates, there is no reason for my club to pay for a failure in the selection. PSG is not responsible for our defeat. I tried to come back with the best possible energy, being as positive as possible. The final was a crazy game, we pushed because we knew that without anything we could turn the situation around. That’s what we did very late in the game.”
