We are not talking about a remote age in our history but about events that took place ten years ago. Many, many of us left the screening of the film with this question: “How is it possible that we collectively missed this story? While the subject is now on the media and cultural agenda, it is our duty to include it in that of the National Assembly. Since Maureen Kearney no longer wants to relaunch any legal process – and how not to understand her after what she has suffered? – and that the prosecution has curiously not taken up this case, leaving justice fallow, only a work of hearings under oath and control of the documents in the file would today make it possible to illuminate all the gray areas of this case. In a word: a parliamentary inquiry.

It would be a decisive procedure to advance towards truth and justice. It would also involve addressing the case of the ex-wife of Emmanuel Petit, a senior executive at Veolia who challenged the intermediary Alexandre Djouhri who was claiming a share in a contract to create a subsidiary in the Middle East. . Because Marie-Lorraine Boquet-Petit suffered a rape in conditions strangely similar to that of Maureen Kearney, a few years earlier. A first request for a commission of inquiry into the so-called “Maureen Kearney” affair and its implications for the functioning of our institutions, our democratic principles and our industrial sovereignty, filed by Clémentine Autain on behalf of the LFI-Nupes group, was returned to “next drawing right”
of his group. A few days later, the deputy organized a screening of the film in the precincts of the National Assembly followed by an exchange with Maureen Kearney, Caroline Michel-Aguirre, the director Jean-Paul Salomé and the producer Bertrand Faivre.
Giving a political outlet to a fiction which, by the admission of the director himself but also of Maureen Kearney, falls far short of reality, seems to us to be an imperative necessity. To work for truth and justice on this troubled and unexplained past is to advance our republican principles, freedom and dignity. Against threats and intimidation, attacks and censorship, we parliamentarians must be on the side of the right to know.
