In the video titled “Freedom,” President Biden echoes his 2020 campaign message to fight for the “soul of our nation,” unite the country and support the middle class, his campaign said. The video begins with footage from the January 6 protest at the United States Capitol.

“Freedom. Personal freedom is fundamental to who we are as Americans. There is nothing more important. Nothing more sacred,” Biden, 80, said in the video. “That has been the job of my first term: Fighting for our Democracy. This should not be a matter of red or blue.”

And he added: “This is not the time to be complacent. That is why I am running for re-election. Because I know America. I know that we are good and decent people. And I know that we continue to be a country that believes in honesty and respect, and in treating each other each other with dignity. That we are a nation where we do not harbor hate. And we believe that everyone is equal, and that everyone should have a fair chance to succeed in this country.”

The announcement comes four years after Biden announced his candidacy in the 2020 presidential election, which he ultimately won over former President Donald Trump.

Today’s announcement includes details about his initial campaign leadership team, which includes Sens. Tammy Duckworth, Chris Co. Tammy Duckworth, Chris Coons, Reps. Lisa Blunt-Rochester, Jim Clyburn, Veronica Escobar, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg. All of them will be national co-chairs of the campaign.

“This election is a generational moment for Americans across the country to stand up and fight for our democracy and our freedoms. To win this fight, we need strong leadership that can build and expand our broad and diverse coalition beginning in 2020.” said President Biden.

“When I ran for President four years ago, I said that we are in a battle for the soul of America, and we still are. The question we face is whether in the next few years we will have more freedom or less freedom, more rights or less,” said President Biden.

He continued: “Every generation of Americans has faced a moment where they have had to defend democracy, defend our personal liberties, and defend our right to vote and our civil rights. This is ours. Let’s finish the job.”

“With this team at the helm, we’ll be able to do it. Julie and Quentin are trusted, effective leaders who know what’s at stake in this election and will bring their insights and energy to managing a campaign that reaches all Americans. Our Campaign Co-Chairmen they are hard-working public servants who have dedicated their lives to improving the lives of Americans. I have been able to count on each and every one of them throughout my career, especially in the most difficult of times. Together, this team brings the experience, the leadership and work ethic necessary to win this election and finish the job for the American people.”
