Shortly before the continuation of collective bargaining at Deutsche Post AG, the Verdi union announced further nationwide warning strikes at the company for Monday and Tuesday. “Selected companies” in all areas of work are affected, Verdi announced on Sunday in Berlin. This included the letter and parcel centers as well as the delivery of consignments.

At the end of January, warning strikes lasting several days had already taken place at Swiss Post against the background of the ongoing wage dispute. According to the company, there were impairments in the delivery of letters and parcels. According to Verdi, tens of thousands of employees took part.

In the collective bargaining dispute, Verdi is demanding 15 percent more salary and an increase in training allowances for each year of training by 200 euros per month over a period of one year. The union also refers to the expected record results of the post office. According to the group, the majority of the profit is generated in international business. The post and parcel business, on the other hand, is declining.

According to the union, parallel to the new warning strikes, rallies were also planned in ten cities. On Monday, employees in Berlin, Rostock and Munich wanted to take to the streets. Demonstrations in Dortmund, Hamburg and Frankfurt am Main are to follow on Tuesday. Collective bargaining will continue on Wednesday and Thursday in Düsseldorf. (AFP)
