LG Display presents next-generation displays and solutions for the automotive industry from CES 2023. These include new P-OLED and LTPS LC displays. LG Display is also presenting an autonomous concept vehicle at the fair. Of course, this car also serves to make the automotive industry’s own screens palatable. These include the industry’s first sliding 18-inch automotive OLED panel, according to LG.
LG Display’s automotive P-OLED is based on tandem OLED technology, dual-layer OLEDs with two organic light-emitting layers, which are said to offer greater brightness and durability than single-layer OLEDs. The second generation of tandem OLED is said to further improve brightness and durability while reducing power consumption by about 40 percent compared to the first generation.
LG Display also introduced its new Advanced Thin OLED (ATO). It offers a design with a thickness reduced by 20 percent compared to conventional OLED displays. LG Display’s 57-inch LCD is the world’s largest automotive LCD. The entire dashboard is covered here. The 12.3-inch 3D LCD cluster provides the driver with real-time information from the road with 3D images by tracking the driver’s eye movements. LG Display will also introduce Switchable Privacy Mode, which aims to help drivers focus on the front view.
The aforementioned self-driving concept vehicle uses displays such as the sliding 18-inch automotive OLED panel. According to LG Display, it wants to become the leader in the premium automobile market with its screens. This year they want to market P-OLED displays with 30 inches for vehicles and then expand the portfolio by 50 inches.
