ALERT IN NINE PROVINCES

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) today issued orange alerts for strong storms accompanied by “very intense gusts and hail fall” for almost all of Tucumán, south of Jujuy, the central area of ​​Salta, the south of Catamarca and a large part of Santiago del Estero.

Yellow alerts are also in effect for storms of varying intensity for sectors of the province of Salta, Jujuy, Catamarca, the northeast of La Rioja, all of Formosa, the southeast of Santiago del Estero, the north of Santa Fe and a large part of western Currents.

The areas affected by the orange alert cover a large part of Santiago del Estero, affecting towns such as Figueroa, West Alberdi, West Copo, West Moreno, Pellegrini, East Alberdi, East Copo, East Moreno, Atamisqui, Banda, Capital, Choya, Loreto, Ojo de Agua, Robles, San Martín, Silípica.

The orange level implies “dangerous meteorological phenomena for society, life, property and the environment”, so it is recommended to stay in closed constructions such as houses, schools or buildings; stay away from electrical appliances; avoid the use of wired phones; avoid driving through flooded streets; and cut off the power supply if there is a risk of water entering the house.

In turn, the national body issued a very short-term warning for strong storms with heavy rains, gusts and occasional hail that will be valid for three hours for the Santiago cities Banda, Choya, Guasayán, Jimenez, at 5:26 p.m. Rio Hondo, Robles, San Martin, Santiago del Estero, Silipica.; while for the Tucumán province, in Cruz Alta, Graneros, Leales and Simoca.

On the other hand, the SMN also issued yellow alerts for less intense storms for the entire province of Chaco, eastern Corrientes, and central and northern Salta.
