Loki season 2 is going to have to deal with the Jonathan Majors case

Disney seems to have kept the actor in the cast of season 2 of Loki, despite his legal news.

The second season of Loki, one of the most anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe spin-off series, unveiled its first images recently. While Marvel’s fan-favorite series is a long time coming, speculation about the future of Jonathan Majors multiply. Because in these first excerpts, his super-villain Kang character is barely visible, without much surprise: Marvel Studios probably had to think about the central place he wanted to give to Majors because of his run-ins with the law… After a meteoric rise, the actor could indeed see his career compromised in the Marvel franchise, among others.

Jonathan Majors targeted by new investigation describing his “toxic and violent” behavior

As a reminder: just after the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and a few days before that of Creed III, Jonathan Majors has been charged with assault and multiple misconduct allegations. The problems had started in March when he was arrested for harassment and attempted strangulation of his girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The actor was then dismissed by his manager and removed from a number of events and promotional campaigns.

The following month, the list of alleged victims had grown with new allegations. But on the side of Marvel: radio silence. The studio’s failure to comment on the matter, or take any public action regarding its role in the franchise, could be taken as an (implied) statement of support. Especially since the series was originally scheduled to be released in June 2023 and has been pushed back to October 6. To redesign Majors’ character or remove him from the narrative? Obviously, it was more of a timing strategy for the release of Secret Invasion

Marvel

For now, it looks like Marvel wants to keep Jonathan Majors to play the new variant of Kang the Conqueror (Victor Timely) in the sequel to Loki’s multiversal story. If Kevin Feige and his collaborators are still discreet on the controversial subject, we can imagine that the very close release of the series, the financial aspect and the complex narrative change that would have had to be made (in the middle of a strike in Hollywood) weighed in the balance .

If Majors is found guilty of the charges against him, the studio could however review its plans. We also know that the behavior of an actor is never rewarding for his performance on screen, as evidenced by the bitter failure of The Flash at the box office, surely aggravated by the bad press ofErza Miller

Did DC’s new strategy cause The Flash to flop?
