The hospitals lack nursing staff, and there is an urgent need for young people in particular. The Sankt Gertrauden Hospital in Wilmersdorf is now taking an unusual approach: on Tuesday, January 25, at 5:30 p.m., it is holding a get-to-know-you party for nursing applicants at the edge of the in-house swimming pool.
The participants will be cared for by a team from trauma surgery and orthopedics, according to the hospital in a press release. Both fully trained nursing staff and trainees in the field of nursing are invited. The registration for the event under the title “Fancy a pool acquaintance?” works via a QR code or a link.
“We don’t want to see any application documents that day. We want to get to know people in a relaxed atmosphere, the participants should experience the team at the clinic,” says Diana Köbsch from the ward manager of the clinic. However, splashing around is not possible during the event – the exercise pool in the basement of the hospital where the event takes place is currently out of order.
The Sankt Gertrauden-Krankenhaus is an emergency hospital and academic teaching hospital of the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin and has around 1000 employees. Around 20,000 inpatients are treated here every year.
