The team behind the Budibase low-code platform has released a feature update for its software. Budibase is an open-source low-code tool that wants to make it possible for lay developers to create business applications.

The first central innovation is a sidebar that displays historical data (records) in the overall overview. Budibase thus presents all central database CRUD functions (Create, Read, Update and Delete) in one view. With the update, the tool also masters sample data sets for further simplified onboarding of new team members and a faster start to new development projects. These can be used in newly created apps instead of real data. Instead of presenting a waiting wheel when loading new components, Budibase now also gradually fills in the available data via a “skeleton loading states” view.

Budibase is an open source, low-code platform. The source code is available at Github. However, the use of the software is not entirely free; Budibase can only be operated with an npm package, which must be obtained directly from the manufacturer. The provider differentiates between a free plan with limited functionality and a business plan with all functions for 400 US dollars, or the tailor-made enterprise plan with prices on request. Companies can either host Budibase themselves on-premises or obtain it from the manufacturer as cloud software. The prices are identical.

Further information, including the improved performance of Budibase, deliver the release notes.
