Lower Saxony’s CDU accuses Minister of Education Julia Willie Hamburg (Greens) of intentionally introducing a text by climate activist Luisa Neubauer. She denies the allegations.

The CDU parliamentary group in Lower Saxony has accused Minister of Education Julia Willie Hamburg (Greens) of having smuggled an essay by climate activist Luisa Neubauer into the Abitur exam. However, the ministry explained that the tasks had already been selected last year – before the new elections in autumn, that is what the “Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung” (HAZ) reports. At that time, Grant Hendrik Tonne (SPD) was still in office – and the CDU was a coalition partner. A guest contribution by Neubauer was used in the “Zeit” as material for a task in the subject of politics and economy.

The ministry dismissed the criticism as “grotesque” and emphasized that the process was absolutely apolitical. The minister had no influence on the selection of the tasks. A current report as part of an Abitur exam is nothing unusual.
