After the coup attempt this Sunday in Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva summoned the 27 governors to “discuss the terrorist attacks” at the headquarters of the three Powers. After the meeting, the Rio de Janeiro president left the Planalto Palace for the Supreme Court of Justice accompanied by the presidents, in a caravan carried out to reaffirm the defense of democracy after the attempted coup perpetrated this Sunday by Bolsonaro protesters at the headquarters of the three State powers in Brasilia.
With perfect assistance from the leaders of the 26 states and the representative in charge of the federal district Celina Leão, who was acting as lieutenant governor and assumed her new position after the suspension of Ibaneis Rocha; the Brazilian President highlighted that the Bolsonaro protesters who are in the streets “they want a coup, but they are not going to have it”, and affirmed that in the meeting with the governors what was being attempted was “repair a defect that was created there when everything began to be denied in this country.”

In this sense, Lula expressed: “The electoral result was given and was respected by a large part of society, but a part of the losers did not accept it and is on the street. They are in front of the barracks in almost the entire national territory. They are calling for a coup. What we are doing here is trying to repair a defect that was created there when everything began to be denied in this country.”
“They have to learn that democracy is the most difficult thing for us, because it requires us to support othersIt requires living with people we don’t like, with whom we don’t get along, but it is the only regime that allows everyone to have the opportunity to compete and whoever wins has the right to govern,” the president said at the meeting with the governors.
In turn, during the meeting, Da Silva pointed out the army for allowing Bolsonarista militants to occupy areas near the barracks knowing that they had anti-democratic pretensions: “It was clear to everyone that the Bolsonaristas were only plotting the coup and even so they remained in military zones for two months, with the complacency of the unit commanders,” he said.
“During the military dictatorship, people were arrested and tortured just for defending the fall of a government. Now the people are freely demanding the coup in front of the barracks and no barracks have done anything. No general has moved to say that this cannot happen, that it is forbidden to ask for it“, he claimed.
“It gave the impression that there were people who liked it when the people called for a coup,” he emphasized.
From the meeting, in which ministers of the Federal Supreme Court also participated, the vice president of the organization Rosa Weber highlighted the “gesture of unity” of the governors when attending the meeting called by Lula Da Silva and referred to the destruction in the court building.
In this sense, Weber assured: “The Federal Supreme Court was heavily attacked, our historic building, its interior, was practically destroyed. Especially our plenary session and this symbology saddened me greatly, but I want to assure everyone that we are going to be rebuilt and on February 1 we will start the judicial year as required.
