Asked by La Voix du Nord, the singer spoke about the rise in prices for concert tickets in France in 2023.

While the prices of concert tickets are soaring this year in France to reach impressive sums, the artist Matt Pokora spoke about this significant increase in prices.

According to the singer, interviewed by a group of Lille fans for the local newspaper The voice of the Norththis price increase is notably linked to the general “inflation” which ultimately affects concert ticket prices.

“It’s inflation everywhere. The equipment is between 15 and 20% more expensive than on the previous tour. And the more people we put on stage, or set elements, the more it costs. And that affects ticket prices,” he said.

“There have never been so many concerts”

M.Pokora also explains this surge in concert ticket prices by a multiplication by the artists of their performances in order to compensate for a drop in income generated by sales of physical albums in the face of streaming “which pays much less”.

As the magazine says Teleramathe share of live music in musicians’ income has increased from 30% to 75% between the 1980s and today in France, and the number of concerts has also increased, from 30,000 in 2006 to 65,000 in 2017.

“Physical sales continue to collapse and since streaming brings in much less, there are plenty of artists who can no longer live off their albums and who have to go on tour”, specifies the artist.

“There have never been so many concerts. Equipment rental companies are raising prices. So tickets are more expensive,” he adds.

The interpreter of Fall claims, however, to be the artist “who has the concerts at the best value for money”. “What I’ve been doing for 20 years, I should be 120 euros instead But I prefer there to be less in my pocket at the end but more people could have come. I want to remain accessible”, admits- he.

For his Epicenter Tour, scheduled for 2023 on the occasion of his 20-year career, Mr. Pokora offers tickets ranging from 55 euros, in category 3, to 99 euros, in gold square. The artist will notably perform at Paris La Défense Arena on June 10.
