Hours of deep shock were lived this afternoon in a nursing home in La Plata when an older adult allegedly killed his roommate.

According to official sources, it occurred in 118 bis and 524, precisely in the “Cuatro Estaciones” Home.

There, for reasons that are still a matter of investigation, madness broke out in the room. A 78-year-old grandfather lost his life after receiving injuries caused by blows from a piece of wood. The victim was identified as Ricardo Oscar Yakzan.

The defendant, who could have psychiatric problems, is 69 years old. “He has a long-standing diagnosis of schizophrenia plus cognitive impairment,” the sources added. For the moment he has not been detained and for now he is kept in a separate room, with custody and medical care.

In the case, UFI No. 7, in charge of prosecutor Virginia Bravo, intervened. Police officers from the Sixth Tolosa police station and the DDI Homicide Cabinet worked at the scene.
