Yesterday, Sunday afternoon, an extensive hostage-taking in the area of Loma Hermosa, Tres de Febrero, jurisdiction of San Martín, ended in an apparent suicideassured police sources to Infobae.
It all started when personnel from Police Station No. 11 in the area went to the home of Marcelo Claudio Medina, 49, on Jonas Salk Street at 1600to investigate a complaint of gender violence, after a call to 911 reported that a neighbor in the area was assaulting his partner.
There, the Buenos Aires police officers met Medina, who was enraged. He took his partner and a minor who would be his daughter as hostages, shot at the troops -without any being injured- and entered the house to barricade himself. The personnel of the Police Station requested reinforcements from Grupo Halcón and the UTOI, as well as a negotiator who intervened in the situation.
Over time, the police managed to get the woman and the minor released. But Medina, a former employee of a cleaning outsourcing company, who according to local portals would have served a heavy sentence for robbery, he preferred not to surrender.
Thus, negotiations continued, without success. At one point, two shots were heard. After a reasonable time of not receiving an answer, the Halcón Group broke into the house and searched for Medina. They found him dead, with a bullet in the head and a gun under his left leg in a room on the first floor of the place. A SAME doctor who confirmed the death established that Medina had died at least three hours before the police entered the home.
The UFI No. 3 of San Martin is in charge of the case file, initially described as abuse of weapons and resistance to authority, something that dissolves with the accused already dead.
In the middle of last month, a police killed one robber and wounded another when a gang of motorcycle jets tried to steal his motorcycle on which he was traveling around the game of Three of February, in the area of Villa Pineral.
