“O Festival pays tribute to the composer Johann Sebastian Bach, the greatest figure of international organ culture, integrating works of his composition in the repertoire of each of the concerts”, says in a press release the Mafra chamber, which organizes the event.

The first two concerts of the festival, with works for organ, will take place on the 21st, with the Polish Roman Perucki, at the Igreja de São Pedro, and, the following day, with the Frenchman Quentin du Verdier, at the Igreja do Livramento.

On the 23rd, the program proposes a concert for organ and flute, performed by Daniel Nunes and Joana Amorim, respectively, at the Church of Santo Isidoro.

On the 28th, organist João Vaz and Ensemble 258 will give a concert at Capela Monte do Carmo, dedicated to Bach’s cantatas.

On the following day, that group joins organist André Ferreira, at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, while on the 30th a concert on Bach’s influences is expected in London by soprano Cecília Rodrigues and organist Sérgio Silva, at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption.

The festival continues with the German soprano Gudrum Sidonie Otto and the German organist Andreas Liebig, at the Church of Santo André, on May 5th, and with the Italian organist Luca Scandali, at the Church of the Incarnation, a day later.

The program closes, on the 7th, with a concert for six organs, on Bach and the seventh art, with the organists Sérgio Silva, António Esteireiro, João Santos, Margarida Oliveira, Diogo Pombo and Daniela Moreira, in the basilica of the National Palace of Mafra .

With the exception of the last concert, the rest are free.
