Fans around the world are eagerly waiting to see if the Super Mario movie really lives up to expectations. For several weeks now, we’ve been kept busy with new information snippets, such as posters or small trailers. Just in time for the Super Bowl, Nintendo also released a new, big trailer. And now it has also leaked out how long you can plant yourself in the cinema seats to enjoy the first screen adventure of Mario, Luigi, Bowser and Co.

So long will the Super Mario movie

Nintendo’s forthcoming animated film The Super Mario Bros. Movie will have a running time of 92 minutes and 17 seconds. This is according to information from the Irish Film Classification Office (IFCO).

Although a running length of just one and a half hours sounds like little to one or the other cinema-goer after such chunks as Black Phantom: Wakanda Forever or Avatar: The Way of Water, both of which clock up almost three hours, the length is nothing unusual:

Complex animated films and films that are also marketed to children tend to be shorter in general. A prominent example of this, and at the same time a film that Mario has to measure himself against, is Sonic The Hedgehog. It was 100 minutes long, the direct successor was 122 minutes.

Theatrical release and new posters

In addition to the running length of the film, some new posters for the Super Mario film have also been released in the last few days. Along with an epic portrayal of Bowser as the main villain, the film’s official Twitter account has also released a poster of Donkey Kong and one featuring an adventurous Toad. The Mario film will start in German cinemas on April 6, 2023. Or you creep your way through New York in the sixth part of the Scream series. In line with the topic of film run lengths, it also sets a record as the longest film in the horror series.
