Man dies from police shooting;  he would have shot

A man is killed by police shots.

Authorities explained that this is a suspect who was wanted in connection with a previous shooting.

The incident occurred as the individual was trying to hide from officers.

The incident occurred in an apartment building located on Eldridge Street, between Stanton and Riverton streets, on the Lower East Side.

Investigators explain that when police officers arrived at the apartment they realized that the suspect was hiding in the bathroom.

They point out that after several attempts to get the subject to surrender peacefully, the uniformed officers entered the house using their shields.

Police say the suspect came out of the bathroom and shot four times at officers who returned fire. The suspect was shot twice.

Emergency personnel provided medical assistance but the subject died from his injuries.

The officers were taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

According to police, the suspect has been identified as 43-year-old Kent Edwards. Police were looking for him for a shooting that occurred on October 18.

According to the uniformed officer, the individual had a history of at least 11 previous arrests.
