Man dies in police standoff in South Los Angeles

Police shot and killed a suspect who was stopped at a traffic stop during a confrontation early Wednesday morning in the Manchester Square area of ​​the south los angeles.

The shooting occurred when Los Angeles Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop near Florence and Western avenues, around 12:48 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

After they made the stop, the suspect approached the officers on foot, fired at them with a handgun, and the officers returned fire, hitting the suspect, police said.

The man, who police say was approximately 25 years old, died at the scene.

No officers were injured during the shooting.

Police detained a group of men and women from an illegal marijuana dispensary near the shooting, but it was not immediately known if they were arrested.
