Mexico City.- A man threw acid in the face of a woman, who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries in Cancun, Quintana Roo.
The events occurred this afternoon, in Superblock 251 of the Paseos del Mar subdivision in said city.
According to witnesses, a young man identified as 24-year-old Josmar “N” searched for the victim, who he yelled at and claimed.
It turned out that this man was a sentimental partner of the victim a year younger than him.
Neighbors heard the woman’s loud screams and reported the attack to the 911 emergency line.
They managed to arrest the attacker, who was later placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the crime of attempted femicide.
As it turned out, the now detainee was under the influence of intoxicating drinks and possibly narcotics, with a violent attitude, which will be investigated by the competent authorities.
Meanwhile, emergency bodies arrived at the point and helped the woman, who complained of a strong burning sensation in her face and eyes.
Due to the severity of the injuries, the victim was transferred to the Specialties Hospital of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Cancun.
Elements of the National Guard also came to the point, who were alerted by settlers and elements of the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (Geavig) to provide support to the affected woman.
