mark zuckerbergCEO of Meta Platforms and founder of Facebook, competed in and won a BJJ tournament. Zuckerberg not only had the nerve to step on the mats in first place, but also showed a decent amount of skill when the day was done.

He was able to take home a pair of medals in both gi and Jiu-Jitsu, both in the white belt master 2 lightweight division. He also represented Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu at the tournament, the same team that was founded and is currently led by veteran Judo and BJJ black belt Dave Camarillo.

The competition has become increasingly popular among celebrities who train BJJ, but as the king of social media, Zuckerberg remains among the most famous people to ever step foot on the mats.

While it may be surprising to see him enter a tournament with his level of notoriety, Mark Zuckerberg has been quite open about his love for MMA in the past. While he personally has only been training in the sport for a relatively short period of time, Facebook has been encouraging its employees to train in BJJ for quite some time.

Whether or not Zuckerberg will continue to compete in BJJ tournaments remains to be seen, but he definitely seems to have enjoyed his first taste of competition. This could be one of a kind or he could be starting to embark on a journey similar to that of film star Tom Hardy, who is now known for his frequent appearances at BJJ competitions across the UK.

Either way, it’s worth giving Zuckerberg some credit for having the courage to enter a tournament anyway, as that’s something not all Jiu-Jitsu practitioners are capable of.
