The German rapper Marteria (41) can breathe easy! He escapes US justice.

After an alleged attack on his girlfriend in a hotel in Charlotte (US state of North Carolina), he does NOT have to face a trial in the USA! Prosecutors are dropping the case, the star’s attorney, Robert DeCurtins, told BILD.

The hearing scheduled for Tuesday at the local courthouse became a mere formality. Marteria, born Marten Laciny, did not appear. It was speculated that he had long since returned to Germany.

Short flashback: The night of March 30th. The JW Marriott hotel in downtown Charlotte is calling the police. According to a police report formulated later, Marteria is said to have attacked his girlfriend if she had hit the wall several times. And allegedly choked. The investigating officers found a small wound and reddening of the skin on the neck.

The possible reason for the alleged freak out: a jealousy drama? The Colombian – herself a “singer-songwriter” according to an entry on SoundCloud – is said to have found out that he had cheated on her.

The German had to go to jail for several hours. He was then released on $5,000 bail.

Tuesday would have been the next court date. The rapper hired DeCurtins, a top attorney at a prestigious Charlotte law firm. It may have been a move that saved him from US justice.

By dropping the case, there will also be no criminal record in the United States, the attorney said. It could even be that the “Purple Clouds” singer gets his deposit back. If it was paid with “Cash”.

Why did the prosecutor’s office get cold feet? DeCurtins speaks of “inconsistencies” in the previous investigations. He specifically mentions contradictory testimonies. He did not want to specify whether he meant Marteria’s girlfriend or other witnesses. He specifically named the investigating law enforcement officers.

The lawyer, who is proud of the surprising success of this international legal drama, has not yet spoken directly to his client: “But I told his lawyer in Germany!”

He went on to explain: Prosecutors make their decisions after weighing many variables, and in some areas things didn’t add up.

Meanwhile, more than 100 cases were being dealt with in a kind of mass hearing in courtroom 1150 of the “Mecklenburg County Courthouse”. Marteria was listed as number 85 on a printed list.
