It turns out that little Louis, 3 years old, imitating his father, took an awl to make a hole in a piece of leather, but it slipped from his hands and injured him in the right eye. The worst thing is that by not being able to control the damage, the infection passed to his left eye, causing him irreversible blindness.

Braille he only enjoyed sight for a very brief time, as if fate had allowed him to see only a little, so that with that memory of the lost images he would find encouragement for the transcendental work that he later had to carry out.

Since 1879, the script has been universally adopted. Braille. but his creator would not live long enough to see the success of his invention. He died of tuberculosis on January 6, 1852.
