Rumors have long circulated about what is really the cause of the bad atmosphere between Duchess Meghan and Duchess Kate.
In Prince Harry’s new autobiography “Spare” there is apparently an explanation for the poor relationship between the sisters-in-law.

– She cried when she tried it on
According to Prince Harry, there was drama ahead of his own wedding in 2018. It all started with a text message sent to Meghan.
– Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, and too baggy. She cried when she tried it on at home, Kate Middleton is said to have written about the dress her daughter Charlotte was to wear at Meghan and Harry’s wedding.
The dress must have been tailored to fit the then three-year-old Charlotte’s body measurements.

– I told you that the tailor has been ready since 8:00 here at Kensington Palace. Can’t you bring Charlotte to change it, like other mothers do? Duchess Meghan is said to have replied.
Afterwards, the exchange of messages continued, with Kate criticizing all the bridesmaids’ dresses, saying that they should all be redone rather than Charlotte’s outfit being fixed.
Kate eventually agreed to have her daughter’s dress fixed, but the text messages between the sisters-in-law left Meghan broken and crying on the floor four days before her own wedding, Prince Harry claims.
In the past, both pantyhose and an argument over the bridesmaids’ dresses have been mentioned in the rumors surrounding why Meghan and Kate are not friends.
Rumors, however, were that it was Meghan who made Kate cry.

– It really hurt me
During the interview “Oprah with Meghan and Harry”, which was broadcast in March 2021, Meghan told about the wedding dress incident.
– Did you make Kate cry?
– No, it was actually the other way around. It was a very tough week around the wedding. Kate was upset about something, but she owned it and apologized afterwards. She brought flowers and took responsibility for what she had done. She did what I would do if I had hurt someone. She said in the interview.
It also emerged that more rumors had spread in the press, half a year later.
– What was shocking was that six or seven months after the wedding, the opposite of the incident was out in the world.
– A few days before the wedding, she was upset about wedding dresses. It made me cry, and really hurt me.
