Messi debuts in MLS: Inter Miami faces the Red Bulls

CHICAGO- The Argentine Lionel Messi will debut in the MLS on August 26, when Inter Miami visits the New York Red Bulls, after the American league postponed what would be his debut, on August 20 at home against Charlotte , because of the Leagues Cup.

Inter Miami and Charlotte will face each other this Friday at the DRV PNK Stadium in Miami in the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup and the one that advances will play, at least, the semifinals and the final for third place, scheduled for on the 19th.

Thus, the MLS postponed to a date to be confirmed the Inter Miami-Charlotte corresponding to the league day and will keep the tickets sold valid.

Thus, Messi, who scored seven goals in four games with his new club, will debut in New York against the Red Bulls.
Inter Miami needs to come back in the domestic championship if they want to qualify for the postseason, since at the moment they are bottom in the East, with 18 points, twelve away from the ‘playoffs’ zone.

The team led by Argentine coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino relaunched its sports project this summer with the star signings of Messi and the Spaniards Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
