Inter Miami officially announced its first friendly match of the 2024 preseason against the El Salvador team; where the participation of the team’s star is expected, Lionel Messi.
The match will be played on January 19 at the Cuscatlán stadium in San Salvador, the media reported TycsSport.
“We are delighted to announce our pre-season plans and preparations ahead of an exciting 2024 campaign,” said Chris Henderson, Inter Miami sporting director.
“We are excited to face the national team of El Salvador in what will be a good first test for our team against the best footballers of the country,” he added.
The news has generated expectation in the Central American country.
Channel 4 journalist José Hernández said that “Messi will travel and play” in that match.
This meeting marks an important step in the team preparationwhich seeks to strengthen itself for the next season.
Lionel Messi, who joined Inter Miami at the beginning of the year, contributed significantly to the team by winning the first title in the club’s history in the Leagues Cup last August.
However, an injury caused him to miss several MLS regular season games, contributing to Las Garzas being left out of the playoffs.
